Jean Steinbrecher Architects (JSA) is dedicated to creating beautiful buildings that serve the needs of their users. Focusing primarily on residential design, the firm has a reputation for producing unique projects that reflect their owners' personalities and desires.

Based in Langley since 1991, JSA has designed projects throughout the Northwest. Many have been timber frame and/or log buildings in beautiful natural settings. Each is unique and comfortable in its own special way.

The firm works regularly with the principles espoused in Sarah Susanka's The Not So BIG House and integrates sustainable and energy efficient strategies wherever feasible. Wood, the Northwest's most precious and indigenous building material, is of primary importance. Color, built-ins, lighting and natural materials are given special attention.

The firm's work has been featured in numerous magazines, in Jim Tolpin's book The New Family Home, in Western Design, and in Pacific Northwest, the magazine of the Seattle Times. Mira Jean Steinbrecher, AIA, has written extensively for publication and spent 8 years as design columnist for Log Home Living magazine.

Speaking of her work, when 6 year old Luke Connor was asked how he liked his new home on the Hood Canal, he replied, "It's our dream house!"
